What is an Authentic Brand?

For me an authentic brand is a brand that holds true to its original morals and ideals. It doesn't necessarily need to be historical but it has to speak clearly and true to its niche market. I chose a brand that i wear, a brand that has been in the industry since the creation of skateboarding, it is classic and timeless within the skateboarding community. Vans creating classic shoes and classic style true to the roots of skateboarding. It not only creates great authentic footwear and apparel but caters to the community of skateboarding artists, music, and culture. It is more than a brand in that sense it is a community of skateboarding culture, which I think emphasizes its authenticity as a brand.

Labyrinth Type Blocks

Process is what I am after, as the idea for my thesis evolves through the year. Creating a process where fun interactive games with great forms and materials can be developed into type design. I use the forms of these games to create a type process for creating the typography and how it can be developed into material objects, which the viewer can interact with as type creation. For the labyrinth type I want to develop the type into letter press blocks that can be printed with, creating a type message as well as 2-d labyrinth game.

Electro-Magnetic Wolly!

After the most recent work review Q&A I want to re-design the Wooly Willy type. Re-defining the process about how I create type that can be interacted with, which stays congruent with the forms and materials of the original game. Wrapping metal with copper wire and then molding it into the lowercase letterforms of the alphabet is the newest re-design of the wooly type experiment. I will be creating a table where the viewer can interchange the metal letter forms to create type will be the installation piece. The viewer can then throw the lead shavings across the table, turn on the electro-magnet and watch the type magnetize into the type message.
